OYO STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

 Oyo state school of nursing and midwifery was formerly known as Oyo State school of nursing established in 1949 and was located at old army barracks Eleyele, Ibadan and the School of Midwifery was established in 1954 at Yemetu. 

On August 24, 2005 the schools (Oyo State school of nursing and School of Midwifery) were merged together through an enabling act of the Oyo State House of Assembly. 

Governor Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja upgraded the schools to colleges through Oyo State of Nigeria Gazette No.19 vol.30 and by the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery law, 2005. 

The College formally took off on 7th March 2014. The college has a satellite campus named School of Midwifery located in Kishi. 

The Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery currently has 545 students, offers 3 courses and has 72 years of experience. 

OYO STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY MISSION: To provide integrated, life promoting, life applicable nursing education to committed, mentally sound and resourceful young men and women by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills required in serving humanity through health promotion, illness prevention and suffering alleviation. 

OYO STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY VISION: To become a pacesetter Nursing institution that will continue to serve Nigeria in particular and the world in general with theoretically sound and clinically balanced nurse practitioners that will be able to give holistic and quality nursing care to clients and patients with high level of decorum in a highly competitive and changing society. 

OYO STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY: To graduate skilled nurses that will be able to compete favorably with their counterparts in Nigeria particularly and globally using the nursing process in any type of faculty. 

PROGRAMMES OFFERED BY THE OYO STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY: 

1. Nursing programmes:
Basic general nursing; programme runs for three years. 
2. Midwifery programmes:
* Basic Midwifery; programme runs for three years. 
* Post Basic midwifery; programme runs for eighteen months. 

ENTRY/ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: 

BASIC GENERAL NURSING:
1. Posses WAEC/SSCE/GCE or NECO/SSCE/GCE at not more than two sittings with at least five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.
2. Only individuals with required credit passes at not more than two sittings from the same examination body may apply. He or she must be at least 16 years old on admission. 

POST BASIC MIDWIFERY: 

1. Posses WAEC/SSCE/GCE or NECO/SSCE/GCE at not more than two sittings with at least five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. 
2. He or she must be a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Candidates awaiting the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria examination may also apply. 

OYO STATE COLLEGE OF NURSING AND MIDWIFERY CUT-OFF MARK:

    The Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery sets its cut-off mark at 52% for indigenes and 60% for non-indigenes.
