     Obafemi Awolowo University is a federal owned university located in the ancient city of Ile-Ife, Osun established in 1961 and classes commenced October 1962 and was named University of Ife at that time. It was later renamed in honour of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the first western region premier on May 12, 1987.     Ahmadu Bello University is a federal government owned research university located in Zaria, Kaduna State. The university was established on October 4, 1962 as University of Northern Nigeria. It was later named after the first Premier of Northern Nigeria, the Sardauna of Sokoto Alhaji Sir Ahmadu Bello.
